Or shrimp in saltwater. I have seen everything from snooks & reds to baby tarpons caught on TV with shrimp. I have never fished the salt before though. With worms, you can catch everything from minnows to carp. So, can you really specifically target a species with worms (or shrimp)?I like how you put it, BP.

Well, not exactly. You can go out there with the goal to catch a specific type of fish, grab what that kind of fish likes to eat and make sure they're in season. You can either hit them or miss them (they'll be biting or won't be in the mood). But yes, targeting is actually something YOU can do, but whether it works or not is entirely up to fish and their moods :)

You sort of can. By fishing in an area that type fish might be in more than another type. You know, on the bottom for catfish, under a shallow bobber for bluegill, etc. But of course you'll still get whatever happens along....

when sight fishing you can target a specific fish. but if you just blindly throw a ball of worms or a shrimp without any thought as to what may be lurking near that stump or head of coral you are totally at the mercy of whatever gods of fishing you may pray to.
