I want to saltwater fishing boat that has a walk-around deck, cuddy-cabin, diesel engine (good fuel economy), and is fairly fast. What should I buy?

you asnwered yourself. get a twin diesel engine, 29ft long is good enough, with less than 500 hours on engines. A generator recommended.you should invest like 150K to get a decent specimen.i have a 44ft striker, aluminun one, that i stripped down to bare metal, and rebuil-it complete to a brand new condition. 3 years and $300K + to achive the thing. under 100K is almost impossible you get a decent boat.

Not true! Just shop around. I suggest a Grady White. If you are patient, you can find a used boat at a good price no where near 100k!!!! Go on-line....took us several months, but we now own a used Grady and essentially paid for the motors and the electronics with the hull as an added bonus!:) (the previous owner needed out in a hurry and we were happy to help)

Depends on what type of fishing you are interested in.I would look at Luhrs,Blackfin, and any others in this category.Stay away from small detroit engines look for Yanmars or Caterpillars, also being in this industry I would suggest since your mainly wanting to fish look at the ease of maintenance aspect ie:engine accesability as well as the genset accesability to keep upkeep costs down.So many get caught up in the asthetics instead of functionality.Good luck I hope this helps.
